Theodore Melfi's Hidden Figures tells a true and culturally important story about forgotten minority contributions to the Space Race, but does the film adequately acknowledge the connection that discrimination in the past has to the present? Can simply telling a story be enough if the compositional and production elements contribute to the “white-washing” of cinema?

About the Site

This website was composed as a final project for Xavier University's Spring 2019 Gender and Diversity in Film (ENGL 359) class. All projects contribute to the evolving discussion about how gender, race, class, sexuality, and identity are depicted in film.
